Is There a Parallel between 1 Samuel 3 and the Sixth Chapter of the Egyptian Book of the Dead?28/224 Marine Parade, Labrador, Queensland 4215, Australia This article offers a comparison of the accounts in 1 Samuel 3 and the Sixth Chapter of the Egyptian Book of the Dead and leads to the conclusion that they may be parallel accounts. The background to the Egyptian text is explained, and it is suggested that the Hebrew author used the Egyptian account in writing this important chapter in the Deuteronomistic History.
